SkySwitch PRO NET – New Ethernet Product Line in Development
Development of the new SkySwitch PRO NET product line is currently in progress. The new model will provide fully network-based operation without requiring USB during normal use, together with high-precision GNSS time synchronization based on the PPS signal. The product launch is currently planned for early November, subject to completion of final firmware development and real-observatory testing.

SkySwitch PRO is more than a remote power switch for 10Micron mounts. It is an integrated support system available for both V2 and V3 controllers, designed for remote observatories and unattended operation.

Mount status monitoring depends on the controller generation. With 10Micron V3 controllers, SkySwitch PRO provides direct real-time mount status monitoring through the dedicated AUX interface. With V2 controllers, mount availability is monitored over the official 10Micron TCP/IP protocol, eliminating the need for the ASCOM driver. The same native TCP/IP connection is also used for weather data synchronization and GPS time and location updates, providing a simpler, more reliable and fully integrated communication architecture.

In addition to remote ON/OFF control, SkySwitch PRO extends observatory functionality with two capabilities that are particularly important in the 10Micron ecosystem: atmospheric refraction support and GPS-based synchronization.

Its built-in environmental sensor provides temperature, pressure, and humidity data that are transmitted directly to the mount using the official 10Micron TCP/IP protocol. These values are used for atmospheric refraction compensation, helping the mount maintain more accurate pointing and tracking as observing conditions change. In other words, SkySwitch PRO does not simply display weather data — it continuously provides operational information that contributes to improved mount performance.

SkySwitch PRO also integrates a high-sensitivity GPS receiver to provide accurate UTC time, geographic coordinates and altitude. The companion software synchronizes this information directly with the mount over the native 10Micron TCP/IP protocol, eliminating the need for the ASCOM driver or a direct GPS connection to the mount. To maximize synchronization accuracy, SkySwitch PRO employs an advanced latency-aware time synchronization algorithm that measures communication delays, applies millisecond-level clock correction and verifies the final result before completing the synchronization process.

By combining GPS-based synchronization, environmental sensing, remote ON/OFF control, and controller-aware mount monitoring in one compact device, SkySwitch PRO helps users take full advantage of the advanced capabilities built into 10Micron mounts. Available in dedicated hardware versions for both V2 and V3 controllers, SkySwitch PRO provides a unified communication architecture based on the official 10Micron TCP/IP protocol while maintaining hardware compatibility with each controller generation.
